Association of cost engineers, estimators, planners, schedulers and consultants to advance the science and art of estimating, cost control and scheduling.  The organization’s certification program for cost engineers and consultants has been accredited by the Council of Engineering Specialty Boards.

The Puget Sound Section of AIChE was founded in 1947. Our Section has about 600 members. Our Local Section coordinates an event for young professionals, holds several networking meetings and/or tours, assists in matching employers with job seekers, reaches out to students for mentoring, and performs some outreach in raising community awareness of Chemical Engineering.

Association of public works professionals in both the public and private sector including public works directors, managers, and project managers, civil, structural, traffic, and geotechnical engineers, planners, environmentalists, right-of-way specialists, surveyors, construction engineers, fleet managers, and materials suppliers. There are 64 local chapters throughout North America. The following information is for the Washington State chapter.

With a worldwide membership of over 140,000, ASCE is the preeminent organization representing the civil engineering profession in the United States.  Civil engineers are involved in the design and construction of buildings, bridges, dams, roadways, ports, water supply and distribution systems, and wastewater collection and treatment facilities. ASCE’s Seattle Section has over 2.300 members within 9 counties in western Washington.

SAME     Society of American Military Engineers

SAME’s Seattle Post was chartered in 1920 – the same year the National Society of American Military Engineers was organized. The mission of SAME is to promote and facilitate engineering support for national security by developing and enhancing relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public and private sector engineers, and related professionals. Seattle Post membership includes all branches of the military particularly representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Navy’s Engineering Field Activity Northwest, the Coast Guard’s Facilities Design & Construction Center, NOAA, and Public Health Service, as well as other federal, state, and local agencies that provide and utilize engineering, planning, architecture and construction services. Our membership also includes the majority of the Northwest’s major civilian engineer, planning, architectural, and construction firms that provide professional services to federal, state, and local agencies.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers – Puget Sound Chapter (SHPE PSC) is a WA State 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize their fullest potential and impacts the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.

The Society of Women Engineers is the largest non-profit educational and service organization representing both student and professional women in engineering and technical fields.  This society informs young women, their parents, counselors, and the general public, of the qualifications and achievements of women engineers and the opportunities open to them.  They assist women in readying themselves for a return to active work after temporary retirement.  SWE serves as a center of information on women in engineering and encourages women engineers to attain high levels of education and professional achievement.
