Engineering Fair
With Beth’s input and much discussion about COVID concerns, PSEC Board unanimously decided to cancel this year’s Engineering Fair


Engineering Banquet
PSEC Board discussed concerns about COVID impact. Sam will contact Museum and McCormick and Schmicks to determine what their current feelings are about our 19 Feb date and Omicron variant. Will also approach them with the possibility of postponing to April (9th or 23rd). Will have a short meeting 7 Jan to make final decision. At our short meeting on 20 Dec we agreed to Early Bird pricing of $75 ($700 table) and $100 ($1000 table) otherwise

Mentor nights
Greenriver, cancelled due college coordinators illness. Hopefully reschedule to Spring

Engineering Banquet
McCormick and Schmick’s indicated a price increase $48 per plate was $32. Need to obtain firm meal costs and what they include so we can set before and after early bird pricing. This info and our decision needs to be done by 17 Dec
Speaker: Brett Sherwood Senior VP Blue Origin, Advanced Product Division at Blue Origin (many thanks Ray!), we will have a laptop and a clicker, USB acceptable Large screen display microphone
Awards: John has received 3-4 nominations.  All due Friday. Proclamation is approved.

Booked Museum of Flight for 19 Feb 2022. Check in the mail. Contract signed. Next steps to Check with McCormick and Schmicks. All societies need to nominate people, per letter , sent October 19th and on website. Ideas for speakers send to Sam – Ray is helping to acquire a speaker. Leaning towards Blue Origin (only CEO is speaking and he is hard to contact). Looking at a former Space Shuttle Astronaut (Lipson Holder). Erik Williams Senior Vice President,Terra Power. Ron Carson, Associate Professor at SPU (Systems Engineering)

Andrew reported that SPU and SU are doing their own thing. North Seattle and Bothel are looking at dates and format (in person or virtual). WWU is a long shot.

Dave reported no balance change from last month
Dues notices will be sent out next month including a letter that highlights the one time reduction in membership dues to 1/2 the normal yearly amount due to the reduction in PSEC’s 2020-2021 activities thanks to COVID19 pandemic

Approval of Minutes
Approved minutes of June 2021 meeting. Confirmed we had voted to reduce 2021-2022 dues by 50% this year only.

Treasurers Report
Dave’s report approved with the following caveat: Dave can you notify our member groups that the dues reduction is a one year exception due to Covid

Each attendee reported on the status of their respective Society activities. Most are just starting and are planning to continue virtual meetings.

Engineering Fair
Kathi reported that Beth Mende is planning for a 12 Febf 2022 event at the Museum of Flight

Engineering Banquet
Sam reported planning to secure 19 Feb 2022 date at the Museum of Flight. PSEC needs to emphasize to our societies a commitment for award submissions.

Action
Andrew to let PSEC reps know that we are planning to have the Engineering Fair and Banquet in 2022 stressing that we will be moving forward with awards even if we are unable to have a live meeitng due to Covid restrictions

Dave presented an examination of our historical year end bank balances and recomended a 50% reduction in 2021-2022 dues for next year. After much discussion the 50% reduction in next years dues was approved

Dave agreed to continue as our website administrator. However he is still looking for a volunteer to assume the duties

Mentor Nights
The Seattle colleges mentor nights went well with many mentor volunteers. It even had some High School student attendees. Many thanks to all the mentors. Need to work on the transitions from one mentor to the next.

Intersociety Officers Workshop
Having an in person meeting does not appear to be doable at this time. It would have to be virtual. Discussed postponing this and having it in Sept or Oct of this year. Agreed that choosing a date with no Husky home football game would be critical
