Treasurer Report
Dave reported our account balance at $17508
Dave presented an examination of our historical year end bank balances and recomended a 50% reduction in 2021-2022 dues for next year. After much discussion the 50% reduction in next years dues was approved

Website Updates
Dave agreed to continue as our website administrator. However he is still looking for a volunteer to assume the duties

Engineering Fair
Postponed until 2022

Banquet
Postponed until 2022

Mentor Nights
The Seattle colleges mentor nights went well with many mentor volunteers. It even had some High School student attendees. Many thanks to all the mentors. Need to work on the transitions from one mentor to the next.

Intersociety Officers Workshop
Having an in person meeting does not appear to be doable at this time. It would have to be virtual. Discussed postponing this and having it in Sept or Oct of this year. Agreed that choosing a date with no Husky home football game would be critical

Kathi shared survey results of the virtual fair proposal. There was not much enthusiasm by our member societies. There will not be an Engineering Fair this year

UW Bothel virtual Mentor night is scheduled for 1 Apr 2021. They need mentors. See the PSEC calendar for details. The three Seattle colleges are tentativley scheduling a late afternoon viirtual mentor night (4:30-7:00) on 29 Apr 2021

Dave reported a checking account balance of $16974

Our state filing is complete and $10 fee has been paid

ASME formally requested a dues reduction due to PSEC’s event cancellations. 2 or 3 other societies have discussed this possibility. Attendees discussed this at length noting that PSEC does have other expenses other than major events. One proposal was to continue this year’s dues collection and reduce next years dues. ASME agreed to pay this years dues and wait for a final decision from PSEC. Attendees agreed to defer a final decision on this until the May or June meeting.

Will discuss when the vote tally on Beth and Carmen’s proposal is presented

Mentor Nights

UW Bothel is organizing one (virtual Zoom) on 25 Feb 2021. They need mentor volunteers.

The three Seattle Colleges (North, Central, South) are organizing a joint virtual mentor night in April.

Treasurers Report

Dave reported that there are four societies that have not paid dues

Engineering Fair Report

Beth and Carmen gave a Cliff Notes description of what they propose for a virtual Engineering Fair project. The group felt it would be quite a project. That coupled with many people (esp students) getting “Zoomed” fatigued might be too much. Beth will send a written copy of the proposal to Kathi who will distribute to the Board to be voted on. 

Banquet

Sam verified that the Museum of Flight is holding a date for us in June 2021. The group discussed this at length concerning the rate of vaccine inoculation, the rate of reduction in COVID cases and the lead times required to firm up the banquet. The board decided to cancel the 2021 Engineering Banquet and look forward to the 2022 banquet.

Mentor Nights

The Seattle Central Zoom meeting with breakout sessions on 29 April 2021 is the only Mentor night currently scheduled.  Andrew Gall is pursuing having  North Seattle and South Seattle join in on this. UW Bothel is also looking into a possible similar meeting. Gail reported that all three UW campuses are organizing a similar virtual mentor meeting.
