Engineering Banquet 2026
Banquet Committee met last week (Andrew, Sam, John, George)
April 25th is available, both venue’s however, having a hard time justifying expense
Only 2-3 societies are nominating awardees and that limits overall attendance. Proposing to cancel Banquet and to concentrate on other events, mentor nights, engineering Fair
Engineering Banquet, awards, and exhibit (engineering fair) ~ bylaws require only two committees
Recommended Dates April 25th, last weekend before $$’s go up
$6500 food and alcohol minimum, food and alcohol? That is $7865 comparable to MoF for last year ($112 per person based on 70 paying/80 total)
May 2nd both are available at the Hayne’s Hall Anderson school $15000 food and alcohol minimum + 21%
Need to pay 50% at time of booking.
Talked to Laura Lilly
Proposal is to postpone event for 2026 and revisit in 1 year to see if there is increased interest in the event.
Proposed by Andrew, seconded by Sam, approved by majority.
Engineering Fair
Kelsi presented results of detailed research on an alternative location for the PSEC Engineering Fair. The Pacific Science Center looks very attractive. Some of the veteran PSEC members recalled that we have in the past had the Fair there.
After much discussion Motion to move to the Pacific Science Center for the engineering fair. It does not require us to reserve and set up booths (no cost), timing is comparable with the MOF activity centering around engineering week. First by Mike,Seconded by group. Motion was approved.
Some questions needing answers are the number of booths allowed, can we bring Formula SAE to the event, cost of background checks .
Mentor nights
Hi All,
Hope all is going well. We’re partnering once again with Edmonds College to provide them with 2-3 professionals that can share their career and inspire young minds. This quarter’s information is below, if you have any questions please let me know.
The panel will be held on Tuesday, Oct 21, from 9:30 – 10:20 am.
The panel will be held on Zoom and will be recorded for students who cannot attend. The recording will not be hosted publicly. Panelists may attend via Zoom if that is more convenient for them.
We recently polled our engineering students to see what engineering majors they are interested in learning about. The majority of our students are interested in mechanical and aerospace engineering, but there is significant interest in computer science, civil engineering, and electrical engineering.
